Dulce Stein Presents : Artist of The day
The Wizardry of Interactive Sculptures Nancy Worthington
Artist of the day: Nancy Worthington
Nancy Worthington’s is an internationally acclaimed artist with a
unique and controversial style. Her artwork has been shown in many
galleries and museums worldwide. Collected by “cognoscenti “ and
in permanent collections of major museums, Nancy has come out on
the art scene, once again, to shock and courageously alter consciousness
with a powerful flair .
Her artwork is gritty, playful, absurd with a major icing of social
commentary that explores uncomfortable subjects with an absurdist
twist. Her assemblages are, both provocative and playful, reflecting
Nancy’s representation of a dangerous new world .
From themes of police brutality, scathing political and feminist
commentary, we feel, as the viewer, that we have entered the strange
and carnival-like dreamscapes of Nancy Worthington’s mind.
Using found objects, mechanical devices, odd collectibles, Nancy
manages to create sculptures, collaged and assembled to convey
different stories that are both engaging and stimulating. She explores
the dark side of our human condition with a light surreal touch.
Meeting, Nancy, for the first time, in her studio, she comes across
as a charming and ingenious personality with a mission to facilitate
Nancy Worthington
change and to bring about a better, more humane world . With
infectious enthusiasm, Nancy imparts a genuine quest to enlighten
her audience with interactive devices that allows the viewer to participate
. Her artful contraptions surprise and delight the viewer with a
cutting and fearless visual wit.
Alfred Frankenstein, art critic, San Francisco Chronicle,” the most
impressive…. Is Nancy Worthington whose principle contribution is
a series of 10 cryptographic self boxes…. The more I try to describe
these things, the more indescribable they become. They haunt you
afterward and for a long time.”
Martha Mason, curator, San Jose Museum of Art.” Worthington’s
sculptures engage yet disturb the viewer inviting our awareness
through participation – she moves us with humor and irony.”
Palm Springs Art Museums Contemporary Arts Council.

awaken stimulating dialogue and thoughtful discussion.”
