Nancy Worthington Exhibits “The Visitors” at Salon for the Parched
Opening reception for the juried Palm Springs Open at the Archangel Gallery, September 18, 2015. Nancy Wothington’s interactive wall relief “Cat Go Fish” was featured in the exhibition, which runs through October 12. Nancy describes her artwork at “serious fun”. It is about predators and prey featuring a talking cat and a fowl mouthed catfish which both interact with participants.

“Cat—Go Fish” as the predator and the prey, is the newest of Nancy Worthington’s on-going works that addresses my fascination with cats. As social commentary with comic overtones, this interactive mixed-media wall sculpture with light and sound allows the viewer to make the catfish talk and the cat meow. Serious Fun!
Technology is a double-edged sword. As technology leaps exponentially forward–can society keep pace with it’s laws and ethics? My sculpture “Automaton” tackles these issues by asking the question, “Will human beings become obsolete in an age of computers and highly refined machines?”
